Job Title: Field Mechanic, Heavy Diesel Mechanic for Fleet and Heavy Equipment

Location: Goose Creek, shop

Job Description: This full-time position will support our equipment maintenance with field repairs and upkeep of fleet vehicles, heavy equipment and other engines as needed. This is a non CDL driving position in company vehicle and will require that you to have a clean 10 year driving record.

General Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years or older to operate equipment or be a company driver.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather and conditions which may include, rain, heat, cold, mud, dirt, dust, humidity, loud environments, and extreme temperatures. Weather may alter your work schedule if in the field. If in the shop loud noises, varied light, and all types of weather.
  • Must bring and wear personal protective gear daily as specified job or site by site which may include hard hat, glasses, safety vest, ear plugs which will be provided by the company. Other protective gear for welding as needed.
  • You must provide and wear our own long pants, work rated boot and at least a 4-inch sleeve or longer.
  • You are responsible and must be able to reliably get to and from the jobsites on time every day in the tri-county area. This position is located at our Goose Creek shop but will require in field repairs and travel locally during business hours.
  • Must be able to following verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends and overtime as needed or when required.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive heavy manual labor which may include but not limited to standing for long periods of time, sitting for long periods of time, climbing, stooping, bending, twisting, kneeling, lifting heavy items repeatedly.
  • Must be safety conscious and aware of your surroundings.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and ongoing quarterly testing.
  • Some positions require background checks and clean driving records (as specified).
  • All new hires will be on a 90-day probation.

Specific Requirements:

  • MUST BE 21 years or older to drive for the company. Have a valid SC Driver’s License is required and a clean 10 year Motor Vehicle Report.
  • The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will be responsible for the field diagnosis, repair and maintenance of both diesel-powered and gasoline engines, Electrical and electronic systems, power systems, as well as hydraulic systems for: Automotive vehicles, Heavy construction equipment, on-road trucks and tractors, Redi-mix trucks, pumps, and small engine equipment.
  • Four years (4) of certified experience on varied gas and diesel-powered trucks or heavy construction equipment or completion of a recognized apprenticeship.
  • Clean and Inspect equipment to locate and determine the extent of needed repairs and take necessary corrective action.
  • Be familiar with electrical diagnostic tools and computer programs.
  • Work from simple drawings, sketches, blueprints or instructions. You may need to make sketches of broken parts for replacement.
  • Make installation or repairs to special equipment.
  • Operate and maintain tools and machinery efficiently.
  • Assist Shop Foreman in the selection of parts for equipment.
  • Perform minor welding and brazing work preferred.
  • Keep simple records and report.
  • Assist drivers and operators on a daily basis.
  • Keep company work site clean and orderly and inform management of any safety concerns.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Perform any other general duties as directed.
  • Must have own basic hand tools.
  • Being able to follow the directions of your supervisors is essential.
  • Safety is a priority. Being aware of your surroundings and following protocols.

Typical Hours: hours may vary but typical is 6:00 am-4:00 pm or upon further review.
